Surprise! We girls had such an exciting day. We planned a baby shower for Charity, one of girl’s favorite things to do. We went to the store and bought some pre- made cakes that were kind of like pound cake. They were not frosted so we bought this frosting type stuff called Nutella. We arrived at Sammy and Charity’s house around 10:30 and some of the girls from the team were there to meet us. Emily and I helped the girls wrap the baby shower gifts while Hannah helped Esther prepare some chai and snacks. After we were done wrapping the gifts Emily and I helped Charles make some popcorn.

While we were waiting for Charity to arrive home from work, Phyllis choreographed a “pregnant woman” dance for us to perform for Charity. Charity finally arrived around 1:45. We were all waiting and when she walked through the door we all yelled SURPRISE! She was so excited.

We girls did our dance for her. She just kept laughing at us. After we danced we had her open her gifts. She was so excited and loved everything. Some of the things like the orajel and other medicines she had to ask advice from Emily on how they were to be used. Once she was done with the gift opening it was time for snacks. We had chips, soda, chai, and the cake. The girls didn’t care so much for the cake. They are not used to having such sweet stuff.

Susanna had come up with a few games and had prizes for them. We played hot potato with two of the stuffed animals that Charity got for the baby. It was quite chaotic. We also played a game where they had to see how many names they could come up with from the letters in Sammy and Charity’s names, as well as a list of things you need to do to take care of the baby. Susanna’s prizes consisted of a lot of jewelry. It was neat to see how excited and appreciative the girls were of the prizes.

Later in the day all of us girls sat around and had some very encouraging conversations on relationships. The girls have many questions on how to pursue a relationship and to keep it biblical and to glorify God doing it. The men arrived back as our conversation was just getting started. The girls had many questions for them as well. After that it was time for us to go visit Sammy’s mother.
