Overview
Patterson Park Church is a non-denominational, Bible believing congregation located in Dayton, Ohio. We look forward to meeting you!
We have identified five CORE VALUES that should motivate and control everything we do as a church:
THE WORD OF GOD
The foundation of Christian faith is the Bible—the Word of God. Since God has chosen to reveal Himself through His Word, the teaching, reading, study and prayerful meditation of the Bible is essential to our relationship to Him. Every believer should be regularly fed through individual reading of the Word, small group Bible study, and relevant, expository preaching. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 4:2)THE GRACE OF GOD
The church should be a place where lost, hurting and broken people are free to be themselves while desiring and moving toward a closer relationship with God. Jesus Christ came to seek and to save the lost, heal the brokenhearted, and transform lives to reflect His character. Transformation doesn’t happen overnight for any of us; it takes place in an environment of grace and truth—grace that frees us to be honest about our hurts and failures, and truth that encourages us to continue in obedience to Him. (John 1:17;
1 Peter 2:9-10)THE PEOPLE OF GOD
The church is a community that should provide fellowship, care, support, and training for believers to live for God. The ministry of the church is carried out by all believers as they use their spiritual gifts to glorify God and build up His body. True Christian community involves more than can possibly take place in Sunday morning worship, so commit-ment to a group of fellow-believers for growth, prayer and fellowship should be an essential part of every believer’s experience of Church. We also believe the church should be led by a group of godly Elders who seek and submit to the Lord’s direction for His church. Though Christ is the Head of His church, He entrusts the care of His flock to a group of mature under-shepherds. These men are accountable to the Lord to lead the Body in a way that is consistent with the Word of God and the leading of His Spirit.
(Acts 2:42-27)THE CALL OF GOD
God has called every believer to be a witness to His grace in Jesus Christ. As God ministers to this fallen world, He has determined to work through His church as His primary agency. The church is to build up God’s people in their spiritual lives so that, as they interact with society on every level, the reality of Christ’s love will be made known through them and people will be drawn to Him. This interaction will be through words and works, for both evangelism and social concern. (Ephesians 2:10)THE GLORY OF GOD
It is the privilege and duty of all who truly know God to worship and adore Him. We glorify God in our personal lives by cultivating a love relationship with Him daily, and we glorify Him in our local body by uniting in worship weekly. Proper worship engages both our mind and our heart, and it cultivates a balanced sense of awe and intimacy in our approach to God. We give God the greatest pleasure by reflecting the character of our Lord Jesus Christ before others and wholeheartedly obeying His call to serve for a lifetime in our church, our local community, and in the world.
