AWANA

                      Wednesday Nights, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

                            ages 3 years old - 6th grade

Why AWANA?  Because AWANA is fun!  It's what keeps them coming back.  And while they're having fun, they're learning and growing.  AWANA club meetings are jam-packed with life-changing experiences.  The meetings are run by trained leaders with a love for Jesus and a desire to help young people.  Club materials are filled with verses from the Bible and guidelines to help kids memorize and understand them.  AWANA teaches kids...that God is real, that He loves them and that He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ.  Kids also learn how God can help them in their daily lives.  Lessons from the Bible teach them how to honor God in a sinful world.  The goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.  This is the end result, but the method is FUN!  Since 1950, churches have used AWANA to reach youth.  It is a proven way for churches to train people and kids to serve God and bring the message of salvation to their communities.  Three segments provided:

  • Game Time - Individual and team competition takes place through circle games exclusive to AWANA.  Every kid gets involved and has a chance to unleash his or her energy!
  • Handbook Time - AWANA emphasizes memorization and understanding of key Bible verses that show how to know God and walk with Him.  A series of awards and trophies reward each child's progress.
  • Council Time - Everyone gathers for Bible instruction and stories.

     Preschool (3 & 4 year olds)

Parents and their little ones learn together some basic biblical truths in fun and understandable ways that encourage the whole family to follow God with their lives.  Games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities transform  our preschool program into a lively experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.

     Kindergarten - 2nd grade

Sparky, the friendly firefly, encourages boys and girls to get fired up about learning Bible verses and completing activities.  The Green Meadow Bible Time and Game Time also help create an irresistibly fun atmosphere that takes the saved child a step deeper into God's Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ.

     3rd - 6th grade

The name Truth and Training reflects the passion of AWANA to teach 3rd - 6th grade boys and girls the truth of God's Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives.  They will learn basic Bible doctrines through a series of questions and answers all supported by the verses that they will be memorizing.

AWANA Store

Periodically during the club year, clubbers in Sparks and T&T are given the opportunity to spend "bucks" in the AWANA store.  Clubbers in these two clubs earn bucks by completing sections, bringing friends, participating in theme nights, and as rewards for positive actions.  We have a special store at Christmas that allows clubbers to use their bucks to shop for presents for their family (and a gift or two for themselves, too!)

Awards

Clubbers earn awards as they work their way through the handbooks for their club.  Patches or jewels are given at the end of each major section of their book.  Clubbers who complete a handbook are given special awards during our Award Ceremony on the final night of AWANA.

What can parents do?

Glad you asked!  Parents are vital to a successful AWANA program.  If you are interested in helping with the success of our program, please see Bill Glenning, AWANA Commander, or Pastor David Boucher.

For every parent, the first way to help is to work with your child at home.  Children who do the best during the year have parents who keep them accountable at home and help them with learning their Bible verses.

Contact Pastor David Boucher at the church office at 937.427.0130 or email him at dboucher@pattersonpark.org.
