C2C (College to Career)
What is the College2Career (C2C) ministry at Patterson Park Church? C2C is a group of young adults, who come together for worship, fellowship, and ministry. Our name describes us perfectly in that some of us are college students, spanning the entire range from undergraduate to graduate to vocational students, and some of us have entered the work force and are pursuing our careers. While we are all at a different point on that continuum, we all share a common bond in Christ that impels us to gather frequently for fellowship and ministry. Here are some of the things we do:
We learn. In Sunday School, we study the Scriptures. In January we began an exciting study in the book of Judges, a book so relevant to our times. We also have other opportunities to learn, such as a weekly Bible study and occasional Fireside Chats where we meet and discuss important topics in a more informal setting.

We meet. Aside from our weekly Sunday School class meeting, we often get together just to enjoy one another’s company. We have even had a softball team in a local league. We have planned activities, but many of our activities just happen.
- we distribute weekly announcements via e-mail. Please use the contact link below to e-mail us your address and we will add you to our list or see the Upcoming Events in the next column.
We eat. There is something special about sharing a meal. Consequently, we frequently break bread together. After class every Sunday we head for a local fine dining establishment. For those who can’t afford to eat out every week, we have a Carry-In Dinner once a month at someone’s house. In addition, families in the church occasionally have us over for dinner.
We serve. When one of us is in need, there is always someone there to help, whether it’s finishing a bathroom, fixing a car, or just giving someone a ride. We serve the community as well. We have folks involved in campus ministries, the Gospel Mission, Operation Rebirth, ministry to international students, and raking leaves for shut-ins. We recently dedicated an entire class period to packing over thirty shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
We give. When one of our own, Amy Hollins, answered God’s call to the mission field, the class committed to support her.
We live. One thing you can say about the C2C group is that we are real. At times we are right in the center of God’s will. However, as any Christian can tell you, things are not always so rosy. There are times we are frustrated and insecure and lonely, questioning everything. Am I doing what God wants me to do? How do I know I’m in the right major? I hate my job—should I change? I love my job—what’s wrong with me? We don’t offer pat answers because there are none. We pray for one another and encourage one another and accept one another as fellow pilgrims on life’s journey.
This is what we do. This is who we are. If this sounds like you, please come join us.
